Accessibility in Engineering

Code: EE-EF-10

Half-day – 3hrs (1 x break)

Either on-site or virtual

Course Overview

Engineering shapes the world around us, influencing how people interact with infrastructure, products, and digital systems. However, many engineered environments are still designed without fully considering the diversity of human abilities and experiences. Accessibility in engineering goes beyond regulatory compliance; it involves designing systems that are usable, safe, and inclusive for a wide range of users. This course explores the principles of accessible engineering and the role engineers play in creating inclusive environments. Participants will examine common barriers experienced by disabled users and learn how inclusive design thinking can improve safety, usability, and innovation in engineering projects.
