Understanding Intersectionality

Code: EE-FI-03

Half-day – 3hrs (1 x break)

Either on-site or virtual

Course Overview

Individuals experience the workplace through multiple aspects of their identity, such as gender, ethnicity, disability, socioeconomic background, and other characteristics. These intersecting identities can shape opportunities, experiences, and barriers in different ways. This course introduces the concept of intersectionality and explores how overlapping identities influence experiences within engineering and technical workplaces. Participants will also be encouraged to reflect on their own identities and perspectives, developing a greater awareness of how intersectionality shapes both individual experiences and workplace dynamics.

  • Identify aspects of their own identities and reflect on how these may influence their perspectives and experiences.
